Mindfulness Meditation and Trauma Resolution

by: FHE Admin

In the latest installment of SEPtalk, host Serge Prengel, an SE® Practitioner in New York City, speaks with Pawan Bareja, PhD about the benefit of including the teachings of mindfulness meditation when working with clients using the Somatic Experiencing® method. Pawan has integrated SE and mindfulness in her trauma resolution work.

In these conversations with Serge, Pawan explains: “When you bring in the warmth of mindfulness with compassion practices and loving kindness practices … then I feel huge healing happens.” For SE practitioners, she believes that mindfulness practices offer a container: “When you marry mindfulness with SE, then [you can ask]: ‘How do you open your heart and be present for some really deep wounded-ness in your client?'— and have a balance.”

The conversation is 29 minutes in length and includes a discussion on resonance and mindfulness in SE sessions. Pawan speaks about using mindfulness practices in her SE sessions as a practitioner and for her clients. Please listen to the full conversation here:
