Embodied Emotions Experienced by Nurses Within Acute Care Contexts: How to Design Qualitative Research – Anna Bovo, RN, MSc

Description

This presentation will provide a perspective for all somatic healers, healthcare workers (and creative souls!) who wish to integrate knowledge and tools from Somatic Experiencing to qualitative research and a targeted population. The power of qualitative research is to explore your topic of interest with a small group of people, allowing an in-depth conversation. In this case, I will present how I designed my research with nurses and how I will engage with them to start such dialogue, unfolding their own experience of emotions as they work at the forefront of acute care contexts.Learning Objectives
1. You will learn how to design qualitative research and build a research question
2. You will explore the possibilities of doing research with a small sample size, in an in-depth conversation with the participants
3. You will learn about creative tools to carry out research and introduce Somatic Experiencing to the participants
4. You will navigate through my example of research design with a focus on the “pre-work”: still not having data and results on hand!
5. You will learn how to apply “theory” to “practice”, and what it means to build a theoretical and conceptual framework for your research1 hour 13 mins
