Integrating Somatic Experiencing® Touch Work into a Manual Therapy Practice
Date: May 26, 2022 | 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm MountainPresenter: Lael Katharine Keen, SEP, Senior Faculty for SEI
Location: Online Webinar
Details
This webinar is designed for Somatic Experiencing® students and practitioners who work primarily with touch and it is meant to answer the question that Lael so often hears in the Advanced 2 module of the training "How do I integrate Somatic Experiencing® touch work into my Manual Therapy/Massage Therapy etc. practice?"
We will start by reviewing the parameters of Coherence Touch. What is coherence? What are the physiological markers of coherence? How do we feel coherence with our hands? How do we invite coherence when it's opposite--the chaos of trauma---prevails? This is intended to be a review of some of the material in the Advanced 2 module of the Somatic Experiencing® training and to take the students' understanding of calling forth coherence through touch another step forward.
We will then discuss different aspects of integrating Somatic Experiencing® into Manual Therapy, how to use words and tracking while touching the body and how to integrate coherence touch within the context of a session from another modality.
We will also have a discussion about changing the contract with our clients if we believe that they will be better served by doing an entire session of Somatic Experiencing® touch work.

Additional Presenter: and Ana do Valle, OTR, SIPTC, Anthroposophical Counselor
Location: Online Webinar
Details
This introductory (Part 1) workshop is designed to educate practitioners working in the trauma spectrum on how to integrate the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) created by Dr. Stephen Porges as a preparatory and/or intervention tool for treating complex trauma, wounds of attachment, addictions, and other emotional and physical conditions related to Autonomic Dysregulation.
The SEGAN MODEL brings the client, therapist and experience to the creation of a narrative that supports the essence of a felt sense-based intention that allows the individual to become the co-creators of their own Mosaic of Healing (Healing Pathway).
When adopting the SEGAN MODEL (Sensation, Emotion, Gesture in colors, Action, and Narrative), the listening sessions of the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) are supported by creative activities, movement, and gestures that encourage expression, embodiment, coherence, and empowerment. This process helps one repair they concept of Self through algorithms of safety and connection.
This model enlivens our awareness and understanding of life patterns. When adopted in conjunction with the SSP, it correlates each hour of the listening to a deeper relationship and organization of our conscious mind. It supports the somatic “bottom-up” approach of creating the opportunity for subtle shifts in arousal, inviting imagination, inspiration and intuition, to strengthen our capacity to become present with ourselves and each other. It allows us to transform and transcend trauma.
You will be presented with two case studies, one featuring the essence of birth trauma and the other on eating disorder / developmental trauma. In both cases, the Polyvagal Theory (SSP) and Somatic Experiencing informed approaches were a part of the healing process.
This presentation will include a 20-minute Q&A session.
WEBINAR OBJECTIVES
* Name and describe the SEGAN Model as it applies to the five listening hours of the Safe and Sound Protocol.
* Describe the difference in between SEGAN and SIBAM and how they relate to this healing model.
* Learn to to create a Color Gesture to heal wounds of trauma by experiencing color, movement and poetry to support the sense of Self.

Details
This introductory (Part 2) workshop is designed to educate practitioners working in the trauma spectrum on how to integrate the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) created by Dr. Stephen Porges as a preparatory and/or intervention tool for treating complex trauma, wounds of attachment, addictions, and other emotional and physical conditions related to Autonomic Dysregulation.
The SEGAN MODEL further allows the client and therapist to develop a narrative that supports the essence of a felt sense-based intention that guides the individual into the co-creation of their own Mosaic of Healing (Healing Pathway).
When adopting the SEGAN MODEL (Sensation, Emotion, Gesture in colors, Action, and Narrative), the listening sessions are supported by artistic, creative activities, movement, and gestures that encourage expression, embodiment, coherence, and empowerment.
This model enlivens our awareness and understanding of life patterns. It correlates each hour of the SSP to a deeper relationship and organization of our conscious mind, or “I.” It supports the somatic “bottom-up” approach of creating the opportunity for subtle shifts in arousal, inviting imagination, inspiration and intuition, to strengthen our capacity to become present with ourselves and each other.
As a participant in this webinar, you will be able to collectively (group activity) create your “Color Gesture” in a “fabric of movement, form and poetry.” No previous experience with healing arts is required in order for you to attend this webinar.
This presentation will include a group experiential, a case study presentation featuring developmental trauma and a 20-minute Q&A session.
WEBINAR OBJECTIVES:
* Name and describe the SEGAN Model as it applies to the five listening hours of the Safe and Sound Protocol.
* Experience and learn how to facilitate a group (collective) “Color Gesture Activity”.
* Understand and name the four components of the “Resonance field" emphasized in the SEGAN Model.

Toddler Trauma
Date: June 23, 2022 | 3:00pm - 4:30pm MTPresenter: Joseph Riordan, MAPS, FCCLP, IAAN, SEP
Location: Online Webinar
Details
Trauma is neurobiologically transposed in dyads through the same neurological pathways of attachment to create Dyadic Trauma. Somatic Experiencing is an effective intervention for traumatized toddlers when paired with a behavioral sequence of trauma reenactment to achieve neurobiological completion of the thwarted survival imperative to seek comfort in fear-regulation.
Comfort-Seeking, the toddler's autonomic behavior of safety-orienting and running-to safe attachment figures for soothing is a phylogenetically ordered, neuro-motor, survival imperative that completes the toddler's survival response to restore whole brain neurobiological homeostasis.
When Comfort-Seeking is followed by Somatic-Attachment-Soothing the toddler's nervous system can regulate into Quiescent Attunement where attuned, secure-attachment in the attachment dyad is restored, a phenomenon described as Dyadic Completion.
Participants will learn the process and sequence of dyadic completion and learn several new descriptive terms in the nomenclature will of trauma therapy.
