Anti-Oppression Series: Anti-Semitism – Contributing Sources, Symptoms & Healing
Date: March 28, 2023 | 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM MSTPresenter: Gina Ross, SEP, MFCC
Location: Online Webinar
Details
Anti-Semitism stems from a deeply held belief that Jews are destructive and spread evil worldwide. It is ever-changing and metastasizing. It has metastasized into anti-Zionism, the belief that not only Jews but Israel causes all the problems of humanity. Individually, anti-Semitism is a paranoid visceral, and irrational hatred. Collectively, it is a global conspiracy theory that presents the Jew as satanic and impure, justifying throughout the ages and the nations discrimination, oppression, expulsion, violence, and genocide of the Jews.
This workshop will help you understand how Jews have been negatively associated with such topics as capitalism, communism, socialism, the Middle East, colonialism, and contamination of the Aryan race, etc., how myths are perpetrated and manifested and how Jews are the canary in the coal mine. We will discuss what Jews can do to help themselves and what their allies can do to help them and to help their own country.

Inner Relationship Focusing – A Somatically Based Parts Work Model
Date: April 4, 2023 | 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM MSTPresenter: Maureen Gallagher, SEP, PhD
Location: Online Webinar
Details
Inner Relationship Focusing is a mind-body process that has supported people for decades to feel more connected to themselves, increase feelings of confidence and clarity, and move forward in areas of their lives that have felt mired in inner conflicts. It’s a gentle process that support relationship with some of our most challenging feelings, such as inner critics, reactive or triggered states. It is a somatically based parts work model that allows you to get to know parts of your experience in your body in a deeply healing way, allowing each part to be heard and related to with interest and compassion, in many instances bringing relief to areas of inner conflict.
If you are a therapist, it is a technique you can bring into your work to support your clients healing.
This gentle technique teaches a step-by-step process of being in touch with inner feelings and states in a compassionate way.
IRF is powerful as a self-care practice for healing professionals. With advanced practices, it is a powerful addition to other healing modalities, such as SE, psychotherapy, coaching, art therapy, or addictions work to deepen and strengthen relationship to self in those modalities.

Applications of SE: Somatic Experiencing For Animals
Date: April 11, 2023 | 10:00 AM - 11:30 PM MSTPresenter: Sarah Shlote
Location: Online Webinar
Details
Somatic Experiencing is an ethological approach to trauma resolution inspired by animal models of nervous system recovery following adverse experiences. However, this information is not always applied to the animals themselves in the fields of animal training, health, and welfare, which commonly rely primarily on behaviorism and operant conditioning.
This webinar will examine trauma in wild and domesticated non-human animals, and how SE can support animal nervous systems in various contexts, such as pet ownership, animal-assisted interventions, equine-assisted interventions, horse training, equine bodywork, etc.

We will look at this in terms of neurophysiology, the balance functions of the body, interpersonal relationship and the polyvagal theory.
We will learn three different techniques from the Bates Method of Vision which can be used to balance the two qualities of vision and discuss how you can apply the knowledge in this webinar to working with your Somatic Experiencing® clients.

Honoring our commitment to serving the needs of those who have, to date, been under-represented in the SE community, Somatic Experiencing International is launching its first BIPOC (Indigenous, Black and otherwise identified People of Color) cohorts.
While representing a wide range of cultures and experiences, this cohort will provide the opportunity to learn SE to an international audience of practitioners dedicated to supporting their marginalized communities in healing from the damaging effects of trauma. Students will be able to learn the SE skills and framework within the safe environment of a BIPOC training team and participants and explore how the skills are applicable to their communities.
We will be covering the standard SE curriculum while recognizing how issues of racism and historical oppression impact our experiences of traumatic events. We will also explore how culture and connection to culture helps to heal trauma.
