Listening to the Body: How SE™ Gave Words to What I’ve Always Known

by | Feb 3, 2025 | FEATURED STORIES

My journey with Somatic Experiencing® (SE™) has been life-changing. I always knew there had to be something more—something deeper than the structured counseling approaches that never quite helped people truly connect with themselves or navigate their world in a way that felt right. SE™ has given me that missing piece.

Being part of the Bi-POC in-person pilot was an incredible experience. It opened my eyes to just how important it is to care for our nervous systems, gently and with compassion. SE™ completely changed the way I understand healing, regulation, and resilience. I can honestly say—I’ve fallen in love with this work.

For me, SE™ isn’t just something I practice; it’s a language that finally puts words to what I’ve been doing my whole life. From the Vedic traditions of my indigenous roots to the Theravāda practices I was raised with, SE™ has helped me make sense of the energy regulation that kept me steady as a young girl—through civil war, through immigration, through the constant push and pull of adapting to a new culture. I’ve always known this wisdom existed, but now I have a way to explain it, work with it, and share it with others.

It’s been beautiful to watch myself grow as a Somatic practitioner, blending what I’ve always known with everything I’m learning. And the best part? Being able to bring this work to others—to help people heal, reconnect with themselves, and move through life with more ease. SE™ isn’t just a practice; it’s a way of being, and I feel so grateful to be on this path.
