Barbro Andersen

Barbro Andersen is a licensed psychologist with a specialty in clinical psychology and a body-oriented psychotherapist. For 25 years she has been specialised in trauma therapy. She runs a private practice in Norway and she also works part-time in a pain clinic. She is the co-founder and leader of the Somatic Experiencing Institute in Norway, where she also has been assisting for more than 16 years. She has teached SE-Introductions the last 13 years.
Her early professional experience includes work in psychiatric hospitals, also working as a clinical neuropsychologist at The National Centre for Epilepsy, pain clinics and later she has been 24 years in a private practice. She is the initiator and major contributor of bringing the trainings as SE, Brainspotting, TRE-exercises and SEST to Norway. She has been collaborating and trained by the late Maggie Phillips, developer of SEST-training. Now she is mainly focused on teaching SE. She also shows how the method can be integrated into other modalities in order to make these methods more precise, titrated and refined.
Barbro has networking skills and sees options. She is oriented towards bringing SE into somatic and psychiatric health. She wants to build the bridge between the medical health care system and newer sensory based treatment approaches, as SE. She is also supporting the emerging field of the healing of systemic and transgenerational traumas toward native people in Norway. She sees SE could represent a deep healing opportunity of traumas induced on the Samic population by the government.
As a teacher, she supports the learning environment with presence and authenticity combined with the sharing her broad knowledge. It is exemplified with practical clinical examples. The teaching of SE is made understandable and easy to implement for the student. This gives an option for a safe container that can support a deeper healing environment. She also sees the benefit of supporting deep democracy in an efficient way for the SE-crew.
Since finished her own training in SE in 2007, she has attended Peter A. Levine many post-advanced trainings in Europe. She has been assisting in all trainings in Norway. She assisted and did her mentorship on Beginning Level in Denmark. She has been the major intitator and contributed of building the SE-field in Norway. She has been the founder, and now she is the co-leader of The Somatic Experiencing Institute Norway.
She is also trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy, Bioenergetic Analysis, clinical neuropsychology, The Treatment of Structural Dissociation of the Personality (Nijenhuis), Clinical Hypnosis, EMDR, Brainspotting, EST, DBR, as well as being a Global Certification Trainer in TRE-Exercises (Stress and Tension Releasing Exercises).
