Somatic Psychotherapist, Author, Professor, Developmental Trauma Expert

Dr. Heller holds a PhD in psychology and has over 30 years experience as a teacher and clinician in the field of Somatic Psychotherapy. He co-founded the Gestalt Institute of Denver and later the Rocky Mountain Psychotherapy Institute where he trained hundreds of mental health professionals. He speaks several languages and for the past 15 years has conducted Somatic Experiencing trainings in Switzerland, France, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Israel, Greece, Holland, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, and throughout the United States. He is also former board member of Somatic Experiencing International.

Dr. Heller is the co-author of Crash Course, A Self-Healing Guide to Auto Accident Trauma and Recovery published in English, German, Danish, and Italian. Psychodynamically trained, he specializes in the interplay of attachment and developmental issues with shock trauma which is the subject of his recent book, Healing Developmental Trauma. He has been on the faculty of several major American universities and is also the founder of the NeuroAffective Relational Model™ (NARM), a unified systemic approach for working with developmental issues and shock trauma. He teaches the NARM program worldwide to graduates of the SE Professional Training.
