The 3rd European Conference on Somatic Experiencing (SE™)
From June 11-13, 2026, the International Somatic Experiencing SE community will gather in Prague for the 3rd European Conference on Somatic Experiencing SE, titled “Presence, Prevention and Prospects – Resolving Trauma and Restoring Goodness in the World.” Co-hosted by Somatic Experiencing Deutschland e.V. and the Asociace Somatic Experiencing České republiky, z.s., this conference represents a long-awaited return to embodied, in-person connection at a time when such connection feels both rare and essential.
The last European SE conference took place in 2018 in Potsdam, near Berlin. Hosted solely by Somatic Experiencing Deutschland e.V., it brought together interested people, SE practitioners, students, and faculty from across the world, creating a strong sense of shared professional and relational space. Shortly afterward, the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted not only our daily lives but also the ways we gather, learn, and regulate together. For many years, no European SE conference could take place.
Since then, the world has not settled. Ongoing wars, political instability, climate crises, economic uncertainty, and the cumulative impact of prolonged stress have profoundly affected individuals and societies. Collective nervous systems are under strain, and the consequences of unresolved trauma are visible at every level, from interpersonal relationships to global dynamics. In this context, the conference title is both an orientation and an invitation: to presence, to prevention, and to future prospects grounded in repair and resilience.
During the pandemic years, online conferences and digital learning formats played an important role. They allowed education to continue and connected practitioners across borders. Yet as Somatic Experiencing SE practitioners, we know that SE is fundamentally relational and embodied. Presence, attunement, and co-regulation unfold most fully when we share physical space. Direct contact allows for subtle nervous system communication, spontaneous connection, and the lived experience of community, elements that cannot be fully replicated online.
In 2023, at the General Assembly of the European Association of Somatic Experiencing SE (EASE) in Edinburgh, this shared understanding led to action. We decided to host the next European SE conference together, as a collaboration between SE™ Germany and the Somatic Experiencing SE Association of the Czech Republic. We have built a conference Team consisting of 3 representatives from Czeck Republic (Kateřina Caklová, Tereza Koryntová, Zlata Koštejnová) and three representatives from Germany (Eva Fenrich, Isadora Darwich, Hanna Mennenoeh-Grimm), which has been in charge of the organization of this wonderful event.
This partnership is intentional and meaningful. Somatic Experiencing Deutschland e.V. contributes extensive experience, organizational infrastructure, and financial capacity. The Czech Association represents a smaller but deeply committed SE community. By joining forces, we are modeling European collaboration based on mutual support, solidarity, and shared responsibility, values that feel especially important in the current global climate.
Prague was chosen for its central location, accessibility, and symbolic significance. Hosting the conference in the Czech Republic reflects a commitment to strengthening SE communities across Europe and supporting growth beyond long-established centers. It is also a gesture of trust and cooperation, pointing toward a more interconnected European SE network.
The 3rd European Conference on Somatic Experiencing SE will take place entirely in person by design. It is conceived as a space where learning happens not only through theory and dialogue, but through embodied experience, relational presence, and collective regulation. After many years without a European gathering, this conference offers an opportunity to reconnect with ourselves, with one another, and with the deeper intention of restoring goodness in the world.
We look forward to welcoming you to Prague in June 2026.
Warm Regards,
Zlata Koštejnová and Hanna Mennenoeh-Grimm
