Larry Iannotti

SEI Faculty, SEP™, LCSW, PHD

I have over three decades of clinical practice, working with individuals, couples, and groups. It was during the height of the AIDS crisis in New York City that I discovered my equal passions for social justice and the powerful potential of healing from trauma. I worked in hospitals and HIV-care centers in New York for a decade before returning to school to earn my PhD in Social Welfare, where I researched the prevalence of discrimination within sexual minority communities. But it was Somatic Experiencing that gave shape and purpose to all of these preceding experiences.

In addition to Somatic Experiencing, I have also trained in Hypnotherapy, Inner Relationship Focusing, EFT, and AEDP. I maintain my private psychotherapy practice in New York, where I work with individuals and couples. I practice Somatic Experiencing within a relationally informed and attachment-based treatment model, and I believe strongly that a body-based foundation to any therapeutic work best supports our clients’ inherent capacity for increased resiliency and healing.

I spend half my time in NYC and the rest in upstate New York, where my partner and I care for a century-old farmhouse and raise bees.
