Meet the SEI Communications Department

by | Mar 4, 2022 | FEATURED STORIES

The SEI staff has experienced a steady evolution over the past two years, which has led to many great strides in growth and capacity.  One of the results of this evolution is the formation of the official Communications department. Comprised of six employees, Laura Kitzmiller, Senior Manager of Creative Services; Rebecca Schwartz, Senior Manager of Engagement & Marketing; Caroline Thompson, Events Manager; Amanda Lormand, Communications Coordinator; Abigail Hofweber, Membership & Marketing Assistant; and the newly hired Director of Strategic Communications, Sarah McAfee, this department has been developed with many goals in mind.

From webinars to the SEI website, and from membership to media relations, the department aims to raise awareness of SE as a best practice for healing trauma and to foster a vibrant, inclusive, global SE community. Currently, the Communications Department is working on many new projects. Big changes will be coming to the membership program and portal later this year as they work to overhaul technology systems so that they are more user-friendly and feature-rich. They will also be streamlining the SEI website to make finding the information you need much easier. And if SE research is of interest, watch for a quarterly research newsletter and details about a summer conference, too!

Sarah and her team want to hear from you about what you want to hear about from SEI! “Tell us your webinar ideas,” Sarah suggests, “What you want more or less of in our newsletters, what you're reading or listening to that the SE community should hear about, what issues you want us to chime in on, questions you have about our membership program, and what you're having a hard time finding on our website.” Did you read the annual report? Write any #TraumaHealingValentines? Attend a recent webinar? They'd love to know your thoughts! Email the communications team at communications@traumahealing.org.
