“I'm from a small town in Upstate New York called Cortland (famous for their apple namesakes and for their fly-fishing reels) and am currently living in Rochester. I have a one-year-old daughter named Mabel and a very smart wife, Rachel, who is in the technical writing field. I have a Master's in English and love to read - mostly science fiction, fantasy, and contemporary literature these days but I sometimes page through a non-fiction book. I'm a huge Star Wars fan, an avid player of retro video games, enjoy watching baseball (go Yankees!), and have a proclivity for hiking when I'm not relaxing. I’m always happy to learn, talk, and listen. Feel free to reach out, my door is both digitally and physically open.”

Along with those skills, my passion for leadership and growth drives my professional life. When not at work, you can find me painting, writing, hiking in the Front Range, spending time with my loved ones, and reading tarot.”

A Monozygotic Twin Study Assessing the Efficacy of Somatic Experiencing and Attachment Focused-Somatic Experiencing
By Joseph P. Riordan, SEP, CCLP, MAPS
“Monozygotic twins offer a unique opportunity to examine the contagious nature of trauma in attachment dyads when one twin experiences trauma, but the other does not. Dyadic trauma is suboptimal and antagonistic to the dynamics of secure phylogenetic attachment (SPA). Attachment perturbations due to trauma may be complicit in widespread psychopathology, loneliness, social isolation, and loss of social cohesion. Somatic experiencing (SE) is an effective treatment for PTSD and attachment focused-somatic experiencing (AF-SE) resolves dyadic trauma.”

SE Community Conversations
Heartbeat of the Heartland - Taking the Pulse of Rural Mental Health
November 12, 2021
12PM MT
Rural communities across North America and around the world are home to some of the strongest, most resilient people. Cultural roots, social expectations, and shared mindsets create distinct rural identities. There can be unique challenges when it comes to mental health in rural communities both in terms of access and interest, as mental health stigmas can run high in remote communities favoring self-reliance. In this special session we have assembled practitioners who live and work in these communities to share their experience:
